“Musical canvases painted with different choirs
of instruments can evoke such intense feelings
and emotions that they transcend language,
cultures religion and break barriers in the
most profound yet simplest way.”
- Wael Binali, composer for television, film
and live events
Hello everyone,
This is a video that was done for my latest piece, “The Oryx and The Unicorn.” Hope you enjoy it.
Hello everyone,
My first ever CD is out on iTunes (US, UK) and available for purchase. Its pretty exciting and a little scary to see who is going to like it or not. The pieces included are ones that I did to commemorate and/or celebrate signature events from one of the countries I trace my roots to, namely where I am from: Qatar.
Entitled Works for Qatar, Part I, and recorded over 3 years, the album features my ongoing collaboration with one of the friendliest, funniest and incredible conductors, Mr Allan Wilson, who will in the same sentence tell the orchestra what a fantastic take that was, how perfect it was, how simply marvelous it sounded and then immediately follow it up with, “now if we can just go back to that one section and look at bars 140 to 154″ … Butter Up, Smack Down!
The orchestra we used to record all these pieces are the fantastic Slovak Radio Symphony, who are being sought after more and more in the film world and contracted by one Mr Paul Talkington, another generous person I love working with.
The pieces included in the album are:
“Doha 2016″, the music I wrote for Qatar’s video bid for the 2016 Olympics.
“Through Time”, written in 3 parts, for the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Asian Games.
“Shafallah” and “Olive Moon”, two pieces I wrote for the first and second year Shafallah forums for Children with Special Needs.
Hope you enjoy!
Cheers,
Wael
I believe that music not only represents change, it can inspire change in others. That’s why I was so honored to be asked to create a new composition for the Fifth International Shafallah Forum, held this week in Doha, Qatar.
Shafallah is a facility that treats, educates, and advocates for children with intellectual and physical disabilities, and its annual forums attract a bevy of world leaders under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
The piece- titled The Oryx & The Unicorn- premiered at the forum and served as the event’s official theme music.
It was thrilling to have the piece heard, for the first time in public, by Her Highness and by the dozens of First Ladies, dignitaries, and other international leaders who gathered for the event.
More magical is how the music touches and inspires the young people with special needs. Music is a central part of Shafallah’s curriculum and scientists and educators believe it plays a critical role in stimulating expression and neurological activity.
Dear Fans,
Today I am proud to welcome you to the all-new Wael Binali Official website.
The launch couldn’t have come at a more exciting time. I am currently in London at Air Studios with the Philharmonia Orchestra, where they are recording some new music that I composed.
Please feel free to look around, listen to some of my music, and check me out on Facebook and Twitter. I look forward to sharing my updates with you, and hearing feedback from you as well.
Cheers,
Wael
